Our Mission

 

Bolanos Bay Foundation: provides access to basic needs, play and wishes for children faced with economic and/or health challenges in Latin America to enrich their lives with hope, spirit and happiness.

Through our programs and initiatives we will give children a better learning environment by improving the learning conditions by renovation the school and implementing new educational programs.


 


Overview of Operations:

  • Begin operations in El Jobo, Costa Rica.
  • Start School Renovations in March 2009.
    Our Goals:
  • Provide care to children through 3 distinct vehicles: Education (est. 70% of appropriation): Provide a better vehicle for education which will include:
  • Renovate the existing school to allow for a cleaner ,healthier learning environment
  • Train and Educate existing teachers
  • Organize in a sustainable way for volunteer work from local tradesmen
  • Introduce qualified educators to teach existing teachers new methods
  • Implement new learning programs
  • Supply new books, computers and necessary learning tools
  • Work with all local and national resources to improve the learning environment
  • Create a 3 month internship program for college students that want to teach abroad
  • With adding the internet to the school we will set up international communication between students from the US and students from Costa Rica so that can chat online and learn about each others way of life.
  • Special Situation Gifts (est.20% of appropriation): Provide a meaningful ‘gift’ to a child that has shown extraordinary courage in the face of adversity (ie illness or social economic conditions):
  • these could range from a trip, treatment of illness, funds for education and learning (schooling, music or sports ), computer, etc.
  • Other (est.10% of appropriation): Since the charity is dedicated to bringing care and education to children, other opportunities will be considered to bring meaningful help to these children. Depending on funds, risks, and ability to implement, the management and Board will consider other activities.
 Strategies

 

 

  • Raise initial funds from corporate sponsors, friends and family.
  • Raise additional funds by creating awareness and fundraising events.
  • Create awareness in both the US and Costa Rica through a public relations and marketing campaign (to include web site, PR placements, interviews in newspapers etc)
  • Use strategic partners to donate any school products, computers, books and other necessities potentially distributed to the students during 2009.
  • Assure services, events, donations will be procured in a cost effective manner as Bolanos Bay management will personally negotiate with Senior Management of various organizations.
